Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme Robotic Pool Cleaner Review

Jeff here and WELCOME to my Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme Robotic Pool Cleaner Review! Remember the days when you had to spend hour upon hour cleaning your pool with tools probably longer than your patience?

As fun as swimming pools might be, it’s the pool cleaning itself that really deters many homeowners from actually having one installed.

Well, it seems like those days are over with the advent of robotic pool vacuum cleaners. That’s right, cleaning swimming pools has gotten easier!

Between AI drones and self-driving cars, the brightest minds in the robotics industry have come together to grace us with these ultimate helpers. From being Wi-Fi controlled to solar-powered, in just a short amount of time, there’s now no shortage of intelligent and efficient robot pool cleaners to choose from in the market.

Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme Robotic Pool Cleaner Review

Why Should You Listen to me?

Great question! I've been swimming since before I could walk, and I've been a swimming pool owner my entire adult life.

Over the past 20 something years of being a semi-responsible adult, I've tested and gone through quite a few robotic pool cleaners, so I like to think I know my stuff!

In this review, I'll put the spotlight on the Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme to see what makes it different from the competition.

This product talks a big game on paper, but does this robotic pool cleaner float or sink? (Get it, that's funny, right....guys...hello?)

Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme Features:

Let's examine some of the features!

Powerful Motor

With a suction power of 4500 GPH, it goes without saying that the Dolphin Nautilus has quite an impressive motor. In fact, it wouldn’t be too much to say that the motor sported by this model is one of the strongest available in the market. This means that the DOLPHIN Nautilus can facilitate effective cleaning of swimming pools up to 50ft in size.

1.5 Hours Pool Cleaning Time

One of the main marketing points of the Dolphin Nautilus is that it can have your pool cleaned and ready for splashing fun in just 1 and a half hours.

This, of course, depends on many different factors such as the pool’s size and how much junk actually needs to be cleaned. If we’re being honest with our assessment of the Dolphin, it can probably have an average-sized pool cleaned in about 2-2.5 hours.

If you desire an especially spotless and hygienic clean though, you can set the cleaning time for even longer.

Even at its longest cleaning duration though, it’s still not bad – being much quicker than the time it would take if you cleaned your pool manually. This frees up your schedule and lets you have more fun with the family or do other more meaningful activities.

Extra Large Twin Cartridges

Twin Cartridges

Probably the second most impressive feature of the DOLPHIN Nautilus, after it’s powerful motor, is the size of its cartridges.

The Extra Large Twin Cartridges means it saves you the cumbersome chore of having to empty out the cartridges mid-cleaning. All you really have to do is drop this baby into the water and walk away.

Advanced Cleaning Schedules

Being one of the top-of-the-line robotic pool cleaners in the market, there is no shortage of little features that go a long way in providing extra convenience.

For instance, customizable cleaning schedules might not seem like that big of a deal, but it actually means that you can tailor the pool’s cleaning to fit you and your family’s schedule.

Interactive Pool Cleaning

The Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme works with your Wi-Fi, meaning that it can be controlled right from the smartphone!

This is achieved through the MyDolphin Plus App, allowing you to set cleaning schedules, cleaning speed, and more.

You can even steer the machine from your phone and check the filter levels with its full filter indicator.

As with other robotic vacuums, no booster pumps or extra hoses are needed in the operation of the Dolphin. You really just have to drop it into the pool, turn it on using the app, and walk away to do something else while it cleans.

Three Powerful Brushes

Three Brushes

With Dynamic Dual Scrubbing Brushes and a powerful high-speed center scrubbing brush, the Dolphin can clean the floor walls and waterline of the pool with its triple threat cleaning action with relative ease.

Another nice little touch that comes with the Dolphin is a 60 ft. Tangle-free Cable, saving the cost of finding one yourself.

pros & cons

Pros
  • High suction rate. The most important element of any pool cleaner, robotic or otherwise, is its suction rate. If the unit fails in this department then you're basically wasting your money. Luckily, the Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme does not only meet this requirement but surpasses it entirely. With a suction power of 4500 GPH, you’d be hard-pressed to find similar power in other robotic vacuums with the same price point. If you have a large pool that is constantly exposed to the elements, then the DOLPHIN Nautilus is a safe bet.
  • Premium features. A string of highly innovative features built into the Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme allows it to rise among its competition as the Roll Royce of robotic vacuum cleaners. The unit boasts three scrubbing brushes and comes with two different kinds of filters, a mesh type for general use and a finer particulate filter for sand, silt, algae, and the like.  The full filter indicator is also a nice but unexpected touch that I've really grown to love.
  • Wi-Fi ready. This model has Wi-Fi and can be controlled remotely through your phone. From your mobile device, you can set up cleaning schedules, start and off it with just a single tap, and program what kind of clean-up you want it to do (regular, fast cleaning, walls only, floor only, extra-clean).
  • Longer lifespan compared to more affordable models. As much as the Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme is stocked with the latest tech, the unit is surprisingly robust. Many people who have purchased the unit have testified to it lasting them at least a few years before it needs servicing. This essentially makes the DOLPHIN Nautilus the kind of unit you invest in to save money in the long.
  • Energy-efficient. Speaking of saving money in the long run, the unit is also surprisingly long on energy consumption. This is especially important considering the constantly rising energy prices that might make robotic pool cleaners a convenience that only a few can afford. Overall, the unit boasts an average operating cost of just 5 cents per hour.
Cons
  • It's a bit on the expensive side. Let's face itthis robot pool cleaner is not cheap, and is expensive than other models with similar features.  Is it worth it? I think so, but that's ultimately up to you.  Check out the Dolphin Premier and Dolphin Sigma for more recommended robot pool cleaners.
  • It relies on a stable Wi-Fi connection. One of the most marketed features of this unit is also one of its biggest setbacks. Without a stable internet connection, the DOLPHIN Nautilus is basically a floating hunk of plastic and metal with no real purpose. You might not even be able to download the app needed to control it without a stable Wi-Fi connection.
  • It can’t do stairs. The whole idea of getting a pool vacuum is to eliminate the need to do any manual labor yourself. This becomes even more true when considering a robotic pool vacuum. Now, although the unit not being able to clean stairs might not seem to be a big deal, it’s extra annoying for one who thought he’d be done with manual pool cleaning forever. Whether this is a deal-breaker though is entirely up to you.
Conclusion

As stated above, this is a unit that’s built to last. It warrants its premium price in more ways than one and represents a good investment for pool owners looking to be freed from the work of pool maintenance.

That being said, it is inevitable that sometimes customer support is needed when things don’t seem to be going as promised or some basic troubleshooting is required. With such a technology intricate unit, this even seems unavoidable.

Now when it comes to customer care, the team behind the Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme leaves a lot to be desired. Some customers have complained of slow response times, slow-moving replacement, and a generally poor experience when trying to have their unit fixed or serviced in some way. This doesn’t mean though that you might encounter such problems if you buy this unit, it’s just something you have to be wary of beforehand.

FINAL VERDICT

And that was our comprehensive review of the DOLPHIN Nautilus. Should the customer care team have performed better, and the Wi-Fi connection not is such an integral part of the working of this machine, then the DOLPHIN Nautilus might have gotten a higher score.

But when all is said and done though, condensing all the pros and cons of this particular model, and taking full stock of its many features, we can say with confidence that this unit is highly recommended for purchase.

Its superior cleaning power and highly adaptable setting make it one of the finest robotic cleaners in the market, BUT it's quite pricey and we're not sure it justifies the price.

Check out the Dolphin Premier and Dolphin Sigma for more affordable robot pool cleaners with similar features.

Even with a higher price point than other robotic cleaners, its efficiency and low energy consumption make it actually cheaper than the competition in the long run.
